The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah apologised to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
Salah was left out from a European match following making accusations and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
