Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first championship series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person in the world that I want up in that spot except for him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the one club never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts this season.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
